My Vintage Bikes

Welcome!   Since May25, 2000  You are visitor   Hit Counter

Perhaps it is age. MINE, that is...but Vintage bikes stir wonderful emotions in me.  I admire the quality that has allowed them to endure and become better and more significant with time. We can love and respect them for what they are, and appreciate why, and what they are not. These bikes are my humble, but growing collection of  motorcycles whose spirit have lasted beyond their own time, and become TIMELESS.

1970 Suzuki AC-50 "Maverick"

The bike that started it all. My first bike, a gift from Dad. Now after 31 years, reunited with an AC-50 again!  Found  in California, this hard-to-find model is in good running condition. The seller is a great guy, helping with crating and shipping the bike to me. A little work on this end, and here in March, 2001 the familiar rin-din-ding is the welcome hello of an old lost friend. It is in good shape, mostly original, some parts worn or missing, shod with nobbies instead of street tread, but overall a little gem...especially for its sentimental value. Great fun riding the little suzook!  More news to come!

1975 Honda CB400F

This bike was purchased from a fellow V-Max owner who had never done anything with it since buying it from Rich Gerhold "Dr. Detail". It was in pretty good shape when I got it and is now being restored. I had the distinct pleasure of spending an afternoon with Rich who showed me all of  his bikes, some of which are simply AWESOME. Thanks Rich!

    Condition as purchased:

A little rough but not bad heh! Stock low handlebars had been replaced by prior owner. Ding in Fuel tank. Seat cover shot. However frame, engine, are excellent, exhaust original (except muffler) with some rust. Tires dry-rot, one spoke missing. Engine gummed up but easily brought back.

    Start of restoration and mods:

New seat, new tires purchased, new rims and spokes, collector item Kaz Yoshima's header installed, engine looks awesome! Original low handlebars secured, along with a parts bike. Tank fixed, new paint and decals. More pictures to come!

1980 Suzuki GS1100ET

Suzuki's are a sentimental favorite (first bike was an AC-50). This beautiful example was bought in Maryland from the second owner, who knew the first owner and both took splendid care of  it. 43K miles but in excellent running and good cosmetic condition, serviced regularly, mostly original minus some decals, minor parts substitution (nitrogen charged rear shocks) etc, and total top-end engine work done recently. Needs some minor mechanical work now, and cosmetic detailing (proper decals, paint, emblems). Debating whether to restore as close to original as possible or...

1983 Honda CB1100F

More details and pics later on this bike which I am having done as a Canadian version (no fairing and round headlight). Currently undergoing mild rebore. Original bike in good condition and "restoration" project should be very cool. Stay tuned!
